Espresso Makers

Espresso is prepared by forcing hot water under pressure or steam through finely ground coffee beans. Espresso was invented in Italy and is a small cup which contains about one ounce of intense black coffee. Several coffee makers are also espresso makers.

Espresso makers can be semi automatic (a three way valve is used to dissipate brew pressure), automatic (has a flowmeter that cuts off after reqired amount of water has flowed) or super automatic (where the machine performs all operations from grounding to extraction, the oprator only needs to fill the water if there is no inlet pipe of water).

Espresso makers come with filter holders for use especially with ground coffee. Most of the espresso makers serve a dual purpose – that of making espresso and also regular coffee or cappuccino. The espresso makers also come with drip tray, removable water tank for easy cleaning and steam emission nozzle.

Espresso makers come with stainless steel boilers that do not rust or spoil. You do need to clean the water tanks once in a while. The espresso makers are not that heavy (for the ones for home use) and start at around 6 pounds. All espresso makers come with a minimum one year manufacturer’s warranty. Most espresso makers are pump driven as well.

Espresso makers come in two variants – with back flushing and without back flushing. If you have a machine that is non back flushing, you need to clean it once every two weeks for extensive use. Cleaning your espresso maker will ensure the built up residual coffee grounds are cleaned and your espresso maker runs smoothly.

There are many brands available in the market for espresso makers as Cuisinart, Black & Decker, DeLonghi, Bunn, Aerolatte, Mr Coffee etc. You can look at features of all these brands for a espresso maker and compare prices in our STORE.
